Your Apiable billing

Your own Apiable subscription: the plan you pay Apiable for, the allowances it includes for API portals, organization owners, and gateways, the usage add-on for metered events, and how to upgrade, downgrade, or manage it.

The Billing & Subscriptions page is your own Apiable subscription: the plan you pay Apiable for, the allowances it includes, the optional usage add-on, and your next billing date. You reach it under Settings, Organization, Billing & Subscriptions.

What is the Billing and Subscriptions page?

It is where you see and change your Apiable subscription. The page shows your current tier, your next billing date, the allowances your plan includes, and the usage add-on. It is the bill you pay Apiable, separate from how you bill your developers.

The page reads from your organization's subscription. What you can do on it depends on whether you are on a self-service tier or a custom plan.

What plans and tiers can I be on?

Apiable offers three self-service tiers, Startup, Growth, and Enterprise, each shown as a card with the action available for it. Your current tier is highlighted, and a trial tier shows a trial marker.

TierTypical action on the card
StartupBuy now during a trial, Manage when it is your current paid tier, or Downgrade to move down to it.
GrowthBuy now or Upgrade to move up to it, Manage when current, or Downgrade from a higher tier.
EnterpriseContact sales to discuss it, or Manage when it is your current plan.

For pricing, the page links to the Apiable pricing page. Enterprise's Contact sales opens an Apiable sales contact form.

What allowances does my plan include?

Three allowances: API portals, organization owners, and API gateways. Each is shown as a block with how many you are using against the number your plan allows.

AllowanceWhat it counts
API portalsThe number of API Portals your plan permits, against how many you have.
Organization ownersThe number of organization owner seats your plan permits, against how many are filled.
API gatewaysThe number of API gateways your plan permits, against how many are connected across your portals.

When you reach an allowance, moving to a higher tier raises it. Use the tier cards above to upgrade.

What is the usage add-on?

The usage add-on meters API events and bills them by the package. It is off by default. When on, the page shows your total events this month and the current-month usage charge, and you turn it on with a confirmation step.

  1. On the Billing and Subscriptions page, find the Usage add-on block.
  2. Toggle it on. A confirmation appears before the add-on is enabled.
  3. Confirm. The toggle label changes to enabled, and the block begins showing your events this month and the current-month charge.

The usage add-on here is what Apiable charges you for metering. It is distinct from the usage-based pricing you can charge your own developers, which is set under Monetization.

How do I change or manage my subscription?

Use the action on the tier card. Upgrade and Downgrade move you between tiers, Buy now converts a trial to a paid plan, and Manage opens the Stripe billing portal where you handle payment details and invoices.

ActionWhat it does
Buy nowConverts a trial on that tier into a paid subscription.
Upgrade / DowngradeMoves your subscription up or down to the selected tier, with a confirmation.
ManageOpens the Stripe billing portal in a new tab for payment method, invoices, and cancellation.
Contact salesOpens an Apiable sales contact form, used for Enterprise.

When do I get billed?

The page shows your next billing date, taken from your upcoming invoice. Your subscription renews on the same date.

If you are within a free trial, the tier shows a trial marker and the card offers Buy now to convert to a paid plan before the trial period closes.

What does custom billing mean?

Custom billing means your account is on a negotiated plan rather than the self-service tiers. The tier cards are disabled, a banner notes the arrangement, and usage charges read "custom". Changes go through Apiable, not the in-app buttons.

If your account shows no subscription at all, the page links to the Apiable pricing page to start one.

Troubleshooting

The usage add-on toggle will not turn onThe usage add-on is not available on your account. The toggle is disabled until the feature is enabled for the account.
The usage add-on will not turn offCancellation is not automatic. Contact Apiable support to remove the add-on.
An allowance shows you at or over the limitYour plan's allowance is reached. Use the tier cards to upgrade to a plan with a higher allowance.
