Your Apiable billing
Your own Apiable subscription: the plan you pay Apiable for, the allowances it includes for API portals, Organisation Admins, and gateways, the usage add-on for metered events, and how to change or manage it.
The Billing & Subscriptions page is your own Apiable subscription: the plan you pay Apiable for, the allowances it includes, the optional usage add-on, and your next billing date. You reach it under Settings → Organization → Billing & Subscriptions.
What is the Billing and Subscriptions page?
It is where you see and change your Apiable subscription. The page shows your current tier, your next billing date, the allowances your plan includes, and the usage add-on. It is the bill you pay Apiable, separate from how you bill your developers.
What you can do on the page depends on how your subscription is billed: a self-service Stripe subscription, a custom arrangement, or AWS Marketplace.
What plans and tiers can I be on?
The page shows three tiers, Startup, Growth, and Enterprise, each as a card with the action available for it. Your current tier is highlighted, and a tier you are trialling shows a trial marker.

What allowances does my plan include?
Three allowances: API portals, organization owners, and API gateways. Each is shown as a block with how many you use against the number your plan allows.

| Organization owners | Your Organisation Owner plus every user with the Organisation Admin role, against the number your plan allows. Other roles do not count. |
| API gateways | The API gateways connected across your portals, against the number your plan allows. |
When you reach an allowance, moving to a higher tier raises it. See Members and roles for who holds the Organisation Admin role.
What is the usage add-on?
The usage add-on, labelled Usage Events Add-on on the page, meters API events and is billed per million usage events. It is off by default. When on, the page shows your total events this month, in thousands, and the current-month usage charge. You turn it on with a confirmation step.
- On the Billing & Subscriptions page, find the Usage Events Add-on block.
- Turn the toggle on. A confirmation appears before the add-on is enabled.
- Confirm. The block starts showing your events this month and the current-month charge.
The usage add-on here is what Apiable charges you for metering. It is distinct from the usage-based pricing you can charge your own developers, which is set under Monetization.
How do I change or manage my subscription?
On a self-service Startup or Growth subscription, use the action on the tier card. Upgrade and Downgrade move you between tiers, Buy now converts a trial to a paid plan, and Manage opens the Stripe billing portal, where you handle payment details and invoices.

If your Apiable subscription is billed through AWS Marketplace, the tier actions on this page are refused. Contact Apiable to change your plan.
When do I get billed?
The page shows your next billing date, taken from your upcoming invoice. Your subscription renews on the same date.
If you are within a free trial, the tier shows a trial marker and the card offers Buy now to convert to a paid plan before the trial ends.
What does custom billing mean?
Custom billing means your account is not on a self-service Stripe subscription. The tier cards are disabled, a banner notes the arrangement, and usage charges read "custom". Changes go through Apiable, not the in-app buttons.
An account with no subscription at all shows the same banner and disabled cards, plus the line "No current subscription, see our Pricing page". That link opens a plan picker in the dashboard.
Troubleshooting
Match what you see to the fix:

| A tier action fails on an AWS Marketplace subscription | Your plan is billed through AWS Marketplace, not Stripe. Contact Apiable to change it. |
| The usage add-on toggle will not turn on | The usage add-on is not available on your account. The toggle stays disabled until the feature is enabled for the account. |
| The usage add-on will not turn off | Cancellation is not automatic. Contact Apiable support to remove the add-on. |
| An allowance shows you at or over the limit | Your plan's allowance is reached. Use the tier cards to move to a plan with a higher allowance. |
| Charges show "custom" instead of an amount | Your account is on custom billing, so usage is not priced through the self-service tiers. |
