Content
Content is what you publish on your API Portal beyond product docs: articles grouped into collections, multi-page documentation hubs, a media repository, and a portal-wide API reference.
Content is what you publish on your API Portal beyond product documentation. You manage it in the Content group of the dashboard sidebar: articles, collections, documentation hubs, a media repository, and a portal-wide API reference.
What content can you publish on your API Portal?
You can publish articles grouped into collections, multi-page documentation hubs, images and videos in a media repository, and a portal-wide API reference built from a full OpenAPI spec. Each is managed under the Content group in the sidebar.
| Content type | What it is | Availability |
|---|---|---|
| Articles and Collections | Blog or news style posts, grouped into named collections. | Articles and Collections are each available on plans that include them. |
| Documentation hubs | Multi-page documentation sets with linked pages and a sidebar. | Capped by your plan's documentation-hub allowance. |
| Media Repository | Uploaded images and videos you reuse across portal content. | Available on plans that include the media repository. |
| Portal API Reference | One interactive reference rendered from a full OpenAPI spec. | Available without a separate content entitlement. |
How does Content differ from Portal pages?
Portal pages are the standalone pages of your API Portal, managed under Portal, Pages. Content covers articles, documentation hubs, media, and a portal-wide API reference. The two areas have separate sidebar groups and separate editors.
Both render with Markdoc, so the writing experience is similar. The difference is structure: a portal page stands alone, while articles belong to collections and documentation pages belong to a hub. For standalone pages, see Portal pages.
Which Content features are entitlement-gated?
Articles, Collections, documentation hubs, and the media repository each depend on your plan. The portal-wide API Reference is available without a separate content entitlement.
| Feature | When it is not on your plan |
|---|---|
| Articles | The Articles list shows a notice and the add and edit controls are disabled. |
| Collections | The Collections list shows a notice. |
| Documentation hubs | Once you reach your plan's documentation-hub allowance, the add-hub control is disabled and a limit message appears. |
| Media Repository | Upload buttons are disabled and a notice appears. |
